I had to replace the block and used a 84' short block which was completely rebuilt. It turns out i had to purchase a diiferent fuel pump due to the fact the carter fuel pump off the 87' block block would not fit. The new aftermarket replacement pump is the correct pump for this block, my problem is the thread size on the new pump has a different thread other than american standard. is the pump defective, or machined wrong?
