Merc High performance gear lube in VP dual prop

Hey guys I recently purchased a 2005 boat with a VP dual prop drive, I’ve always had Mercury bravo drives so I have two cases of mercury high-performance gear lube, will it hurt to service my Volvo dp drive and use the Merc high-performance lube? Thanks

VP requires synthetic GL-5 80W-90 marine gear lube

If the Merc stuff meets it, then yes

I think the Merc is synthetic blend, but I just can’t imagine it would hurt it, it’s their high performance lube. I just don’t have any experience with the Volvo dual prop drives

Merc doesn't offer a Gear Lube that is GL-5. So it is not usable, in the VP Outdrive. There is a Reason that Volvo specs a Synthetic GL-5, so that is what the Drive Requires.
