Hi,

I have a 2003 mercruiser 350 mag mpi tow sport v-drive motor.

The ignition solenoid (merc part number 86-865202T) is clicking on and off between the two circuits. The boat is therefore beeping on and off constantly when you turn the ignition key and will not start. I have pulled the relay off and tested it and confirmed that it is actually functioning correctly. Because of this i must be getting 12 volts being sent to the circuit on and off causing the relay to switch on and off.

I have done a manual inspection of the wires between ignition switch and relay and cannot see any obvious abrasion/corrosion issues. The boat has been sitting still for two weeks before which it had been functioning fine and running reguarly.

I am not sure what would cause the voltage to spike on and off in the circuit to make the relay turn on and off. Any ideas ?

Re: merc ignition relay electrical issue

A faulty relay or corrosion/loose contacts on the relay, or power to the relay.
