Merc inboard ID? 4cyl GM,

Need assistance in finding what year and model this engine is. Metal tag above starter serial# 5332673 block casting # 2770087 I looked around for a site to decode ID #s.. I am sure there is somewhere.. I just dont know where to look.. any help is greatly appreciated.

Sounds like a possibly a 1979-1982 3.0L engine?

It may also be a 120 or a 470. It's too old to tell the exact engine you have by serial number.
Can you post a picture of your engine? I's fairly easy to ID between the 120/140 engine and a 470, a bit tougher to figure the difference between a 120 and a 140. Without taking it apart, a 120 has a pulley on the end of the crankshaft, the 140 has a vibration dampner.
