How much are these engines worth in decent condition. Looking at one but have no idea what it is worth?

I'd have guessed between $1200 and $2000. Decent condition covers a lot of ground. Is it just in running condition but cosmetically "as raced"? Original cosmetic condition? Restored condition? Mercury Challenge Series condition, c. 1986 (black with orange Mercury decals)? Does it have any pedigree (owned by so-and-so, won Nationals, High Points, etc.)?

I just bought a complete 55H but its race ragged, blown hole, mid section and lower are like new.... $1000.00


I have seen several lower units go for $1200 on ebay the past year
