If you have a recent mid range Merc. (75-90 hp or maybe 100 to 125) would you do me a favor?

Go out to your boat and grasp the prop. I don't care if you are in N or F. From the rear, looking forwared, push in on the prop and release it. Does the prop (and shaft) go in about 1/32 inch and then pop back out when you release it?

Thanks,

Mark

Re: Merc Mid Range Folks.....Need Help

Thanks, but no the right answer. Grin. Might have some internal problems after all.

When I put this 24p prop on I got a growling noise in the gearcase when just putting in gear or on decelerating right at the point where you shift to N. Intermittent; I guess it depends on the turbulence in the prop area at the time.

May be that the prop shaft is vibrating in and out and that is the noise. I thought it was the loose prop nut, but after tightening it and going for a spin yesterday, there is more to it than that.

Thanks, (but geez Up, you could have said yes. Grin) Would have made things a lot easier for me.

Mark

Mark

Hey Up.

You have an email address? I have some info for you that you might not want me to share with the boating public.

Mark
