Does anyone know what the difference between the model years posted switchboxes are--ie--the p/n 114-4796 box for '72-'75 model 650 3cyl as compared to the p/n 114-7778 for model 650 3 cyl.

These are Rapair CDI aftermarket boxes. I note that the 114-7778 box is listed for many later year motors, including the '92 and up 3.4lt. v6.

For example, does the 114-7778 have a preprogramed advance curve while the earlier box relied on mechanical distributer rotation to advance timing?

I'm curious as to can I use another box in place of the 114-4796 (merc p/n 332-4796A3) box on my '72 mod 650??
Thanks in advance,
Pat

They are totally different types of ignitions.

The packs are not interchangeable.

TMD
