My Merc 50HP 4 Stroke starts fine but appears to be not going into neutral position between forward and reverse at the prop.
I understand that the prop does vibrate and turn slowly when idling but it’s more than that I believe.
I’m told by my mechanic that he needs to get to the clutch assembly in the lower unit to see why the clutch isn’t releasing or hanging up between forward and reverse. Sounds like a major problem, labor wise at this point.
Any advice that I should be considering would be very helpful. Also, I am also told that there is no adjustment between the throttle (cable) and the engine which rather surprised me from a mechanical standpoint.
Thank you all.
