Boat is an 89 25' Cobia I/O with a 350 5.7 mercruiser.

I was wiring up some new electronics and pulled out a keyed on yellow wire that someone had jumped off of the blue wire that runs the lights on all of the gauges. I cant find the source of the darn yellow wire that I pulled out by mistake, but Im pretty sure it wasnt supposed to be that way anyways.

If I jump the blue wire from the lights to the pumple wire on the gauges, the gauges all work but the trim pump doesnt. I know its not supposed to be jumped, but was doing it just to test. What is supposed to be the source of the power for the purple wires for the gauges? I havent traced if fully yet, but there is one purple wire going to the back of the keyed ignition and looks to be a double wire connector with nothing in the 2nd connector. Is this issue somehow related to the trim pump not working? Should the trim pump only get power when the key is turned? I measured the red wire on the trim switch and its currently not getting power.

Thanks in advance for your help!

The purple wire should be connected to the ignition switch. The trim pump gets power from the motor's wiring harness.
