merc serial # A728707 what year?

i tryed to figure this out and i narrowed it down to 85-89 but can tell for sure . can any one help? its a canadian model

Canadian 20HP A728707 would be 1987.

1987 started with sn A719725, 1988 started with sn A730816.

The engine is a model:
