merc. speed indicator question

1994 merc 125 HP 4 cyl outboard ser#OG039265 mod.#1125412PD. my speed indicator stopped working<br />I understand the indicator works with water pressure, is this right? if it does where is the intake on this outboard and what are some of the common problems and solutions. I appreciate any help, thanks

The intake is on the front of the lower foot and has a rubber tube that goes from the lower foot up and into the boat to the gauge. Those Texas dirt dobbers love to make homes in those little holes.... Also sometimes that little hose breaks between the lower unit and the gauge(most I find are at a few inches above the cavitation plate), and you will have to splice it back.
