Merc Starter - Rebuildable?

I ended up having to get a new starter this fall, (actually i got a rebuilt arco starter), but wondering if all starters are rebuildable?<br /><br />The one i had that went bad was a Merc Starter for my 3.0LX. Wondering if it's worth getting this bad one rebuilt to sell or for to have an extra one laying around.

Yes, any good starter shop can handle it around here it's about 1/2 the cost of a rebuilt

Take it to a starter rebuild shop and have them check it out. Depending on how much and what is bad it may or may not be worth fixing.

If the armature (most expensive component) is in good shape, a rebuild can be done at reasonable cost campared to new.
