Merc Trim/Tilt

1977 115 hp Merc Trim/Tilt - My T/T (external) operates (pump motor runs) but won't lift the motor. The unit is in a hard to get to place. I can't see where you add fluid. Any ideas? IF the worst happens, what can I expect for a rebuild or replacement (parts and labor)?

do you have the pump that goes in the bilge of the boat? If so there are instructions on it on what oil to use, directly above those instructions is the filler plug, it is a big screw that takes a flat screwdriver. It is in kind of an indention. If yours is like my 78' model the it takes 5W30 oil.

Nathan - thanks<br /><br />It is the kind in the bilge - I found the screw to fill the reservior - it was almost completely empty - I put in almost 1 quart of 5w30 to fill it. It still does not lift the motor but you can hear the pump run - Is there something else I can do? Do I need to bleed the system - if so how?<br /><br />Thanks <br />Bob
