hello
yes solittle
they can be rather problematic. a lot of early ones in the late 90's had cooling system problems. if the wear ring weears just a bit they will overheat at idle.
other than that they just had the standard stator and oiling issues.
overall they were ok.
good luck and tell him to buy the factory service manuals

Well, rodbolt, I think it's time to do a bit more research on the subject. The engine/pump combination was designed as a new unit for SeaDoo. They have very little in common with the 90's era jet units that used the Force powerheads. If memory serves me right (rarely does!) that Islandia should have a 240HP EFI powerhead with what they call a M2 jet drive. From what I have seen it's a real good combo, vastly improved over the older stuff. The package should be fine.

Good luck!

It's been 4 years since I worked on any of that stuff so I called a buddy that runs a Seadoo shop. He tells me that the Islandia is a great boat and the power is good. Your friend should have few, if any problems. As a matter of fact he got kind of excited when I asked if there were any inherant problems. He said they run well.

Good Luck!
