I was returning from making Hurricane preparations for Barry (before it veered toward fla.) at my camp in Morgan City. I was running up the river when my low oil warning buzzer went off(1995 merc 200 efi offshore) the motor started losing power so I shut it down and found that boat the main and reserve resevoirs were full of oil and water separator was not full. the warning buzzer quit sounding as long as i was only idling. I was worried so I dumped the oil in the main resevoir into the fuel tank in case of oiler failure and limped back to the landing. The engine idled for about an hour and a half all the way back to Morgan City. The overheat warning never sounded.

My questions is what is the likelihood of major engine damage? The boat idled fine for over one hour after the buzzer. It never ran hot and the warning buzzer never sounded after i poured the resevoir oil into gas tank.

Also if this is indeed oil inj problem should i delete the system and start premixing my fuel. I run a long way from the landing to my camp and to fish. This type of problem is escpecially dangerous for me. Any comments appreciated.

dave
.
