I'm sure you'll get much better responses. I did this for the first time a few days ago on a 1981 7.5HP.<br />I removed the complete bottom part. There are two nylock nuts. One on the leading edge, above the "fin" and another underneath, near the water intake grating. <br />I've read that you should make sure the gear selector is in reverse, and leave it there, so things mate up afterwards. <br />The whole bottom part drops down. The drive shaft passes through the centre of the water pump and drives it with a key. Removing two small nuts on studs at the top of the water pump body allows you to slide the top/lid up the shaft. In my case the impeller had no vanes on it!<br /><br />You can get a repair kit or just the impeller. I went for the kit. It includes the whole pump body (and some parts I haven't figured out yet). That way you get all new seals and bearings. That's where I'm at now. See my post.<br /><br />MiYotie
