Merc year and hp?

Hi,<br /><br />I know these get asked all the time but I really need help with this. My serial number is 1434223 (yep 7 digits). I have no idea about year or hp (motor has been repainted). Any help would be great!<br /><br />Thanks Rob.

We need a little more details, like how many cylinders? Square or oval cowl? Gives us a starting point.
