First off, can anybody tell me if Sierra 18-7202 carb float is brass or not. All pictures i see show it as nitrphyl, but Napa crossed it to one of their float and its brass Just curious...
Next question....Anybody with experience using a brass float in a mercarb, did you have trouble with getting enought float drop without the float hitting the bottom of the bowl? I am measureing from the refernce point shownon the brass float, which according to the instructions should net the same result. But it seems like the float doesnt drop enough to really open the needle valve up much. And it is awful close to the power valve body, like it could very likely hit it and stop it from dropping.
What exactly is the benefit of the sprign loaded needle? Is it jst to cushion force to the needle sealing surface, or does it somewhat vary the fuel level under different loads.... lower at idle, higher at rpm where there is more fuel pressure? What would it change switching to the solid needle?
