Any suggestions on how to remove this. Took carb apart, but for the life of me I cant get it broke loose and a screwdriver is starting to strip out. I left it today soaking in penetrating oil but im not sure it will help any.

Impact screwdriver with a properly sized bit.

Re: mercarb power valve

update... went home at noon to try and break this loose and managed to start to strip out/chip the slot in the top of the valve. Anybody ever try to use an easy out type extractor to get ahold of the inside of it and back it out.

Also...Mercruiser didnt change at some point and make them non-removeable did they. I double checked the manual i have and it says you can remove it, but the manual is dated 1999 and the boat is a 2000.

They are removable. Have never had one that woldn't come out so can't help with ideas. I really haven't had great luck with EZ outs for anything.

got it....found a better bit and filed it to fit the slot. Then a little tap with impact driver and it popped loose.

Re: mercarb power valve

Use a dremel tool to put a new slot in it and use a impact screw driver. The last one that fought me with a screwdriver didn't have any fight to it when I brought out the impact driver.
