merccruiser noises and oil leak

My nephew drove his boat over a sand bar and now it makes moises. Sounds like an exhaust leak but can't find the area where anything is coming out. Now there is oil in the bilge. <br /><br />Could this be a blown headgasket?<br /><br />Mercruiser inboard 120 hp<br /><br />Boat is a Renken cuddy cabin

Noise.......Inside or outside the boat?? What kind of oil? Engine oil or outdrive oil? (gear oil)

If you have insurance, turn in a claim. Make sure you are present when a qualified mechanic tears it down and explains to the adjuster what the impact with the sand bar may have done to the drive and motor. Is there obvious damage to the boat bottom, the propeller, drive unit, etc.?

noise is inside the boat coming from the motor, and the oil looks like engine oil.
