I just installed the base MercMonitor P/N 79-8M0062377 for my 2003 350 Mag MPI Alpha One Gen II and it works great except for:

1. I am getting an alarm for the pitot. I see no settings for that nor is there anything in the manual about it. My analog speedo works fine using the factory pitot n the leading edge of the drive. How do I get rid of the alarm and do I need to buy a paddle wheel to read speed or does the MercMonitor read my analog pitot?

2. I get no trim indication at all. I did the calibration as written in the manual but no luck. Do I need to get a digital trim sending unit or should my factory sender on the Alpha work?

Engine S/N 0M354722, drive S/N 0L951634

And for all that money what does it do different than analog gauges?

First of all - thanks for your help with my questions.........

I bought the MercMonitor so I have access to alarm fault indications which only manifest as beeps with the analog equipment. Plus I can access a lot of data that's not available with my Faria analog gauges - fuel usage, fuel flow, water pressure, fuel pressure, air temperature and the ECO screen which helps efficiency. My engine has over 650 hours and I wanted to keep a closer eye on how it is health wise.

Plus it's just plain fun to play with!
