MerContol Installation

I'm going to install a MerControl to my 1979 Blueband 20hp. The MerControl is just gas/gear and extra gas (a smaller handle).<br /><br />Thing is I'm not sure as to how to fit it? I've got all the bits, but no instructions.<br /><br />Is there an online source of instructions, or has anyone got any?

Even a picture of how your motor looks with the two leads attached would be great, then I could get an idea of how it all connects up.<br /><br />Thanks in advance

You need to determine the throttle/shift cables. The shift cable will move 1st.<br /><br />Then attach and adjust the shift cable with the motor in neutral. (don't shift into reverse if it's not running)<br /><br />Lastly attach the throttle cable so that you have a light tension on the motors idle stop when in neutral.<br /><br />-W

That's great thanks.<br /><br />But I'm also having problems with how it all links together. I have the two cables, and some bits but really no idea how it all fits onto the carb, and motor.<br /><br />I really need either a picture or diagram to show the way to go.<br /><br />Plz help, hehe

Try using a parts list blowup at<br />http:\\www.mercruiserparts.com <br /><br />Past that find someone who has one or has done it, it's only easy once you've seen it.<br /><br />-W

Thanks Clams.<br /><br />I've printed out a blow-up parts chart from mercruiserparts.com and I'm going to visit the local outboard store today.<br /><br />We'll see if that helps!
