'70 merc 1150 with thunderbolt ignition, tach never worked...new rectifier.<br />(went from origional 6 con. to newer 3)<br />after much searching, I was able to find an<br />origional replacement tach. :D plugged her in yesterday and still nothing :mad: <br />the seloc manual has no specs for female connector<br />on front of merControl box....<br />does anyone know how to troubleshoot this?<br />what readings should I get from plug etc...<br />it is (I think) a 1970-1972 box (white)<br />thanks in advance,<br />M.Y.

RUN A WIRE FROM YOUR DIST. TO THE TECH. AND SEE<br />IF IT WORKS.<br />REX

Hi Mell: With your voltmeter on the plug you should have one common gnd one 12volt. Find those 2 first and hook to the tach. The other one should have a variable ac readin on your meter of about 2 to 5 volts ac at 1000-1200 rpms and variable with rpm and number of poles.
