So, i am still having ignition issues on my 1966 starcraft. Model is a holiday i believe.it has a mercruier 110/mc-1 i/0.
Anyways, i was in the boat trying to figure it out and my other half goes " can you just replace the motor?" to which I replied " oh god yes".

So, with that being said, i've been eyeing a 3.0/alpha swap. I've read the 3.0's are like 140 hp. all documentation i have seen states that my boat is rated for 120 hp max. My question is, can this be done without ripping out my brand new floor and reinforcing the hull???

I don't see any problem at all they are virtually the same motor only updated with a little bigger bore. The same hull was released 4 years later with a 120/140. I say go for it. Do you have a line on a complete donor boat? You will need everything as the trim and tilt and shifter will be different.

not yet. gathering info before i take the dive into it. is the 3.0 the only viable option without re-engineering the hull?

Anything other than the 3liter will be bigger with considerable more hp, that being said!! Watermann did put a 205HP 4.3LX V6 Mercruiser in is 18 Chieftain that is rated for 120 hp:D
