Ok guys...so...troubleshooting the infamous Mercruiser 120 hesitation. I have been living with it for a few years and it remained after my last carburetor rebuild a couple of years ago. I battled it for a year or two then just decided to give up and live with it. I am thinking about beginning the battle again and in my research, I discovered a dimensional inconsistency between the Mercruiser manual and the instructions in the kit. Please take a look at these two links:

Link 1:

http://www.marineengine.com/parts/technical_information/sierra_18-7098.pdf

Link 2:
http://www.boatfix.com/merc/Servmanl/18/18B5R2.PDF

Go to page 25 of link 2.

While the float drop and float level measurements are the same, the measurement point is obviously quite different.

I set my boat up to the Mercruiser Manual which is link 2 and the bog remained but the rebuild kit I purchased contained the same instructions as link 1. So, which is correct?

I also know that I need to check my ignition timing as well as dwell. Those inspections are in the works but I thought I would get some opinions anyways.

That manual you show in link 2 is for a 4.3L V6. What makes you think it's the same setting as yours?
Does your 120 have a year, or better yet a serial number? Maybe we can get you the right manual.

Ugh...yeah..you're right. I feel pretty dumb right now. But I will say that the numbers that you gave me on the Mercarb.pdf are definitely not familiar. I think my float adjustments are way off! I am pretty sure I have it set per the first manuals.

Thanks for the help Don!
