Hello!
I have a mercruiser 120 with alpha 1 outdrive. When I start it cold, and shift into gear (both forward or reverse), sometimes the engine will shut off. I may be moving toward the dock and putting it in reverse to slow/stop and it will choke off (and then proceed to slide into the dock). This has always been at slow speeds maneuvering off the trailer over to the dock.
If I put the boat in neutral, and turn it back on, it always starts up immediately again without fail.
Once I run around the lake for a while and it has the chance to warm up, it seems that all is ok when approaching a dock. It works flawlessly as long as the engine is warm.
Any ideas what is causing this issue only when it is still warming up? I have come too close to sliding into other boats to let this go, and really would like to fix it because it is a real nuisance!
