Hi there all , I have a starting problem with a Mercruiser 120 engine.

It will start ok and run fine with the outdrive unit raised slightly out of water , but when I try and start it with the outdrive unit fully lowered into the water it gives me a hard time. I have to resort to raising the outdrive unit slightly out of the water in order to get it going , then lowering the outdrive unit fully into the water and engaging the throttle at the same time to get underway. Any ideas as to what maybe the cause of this ?

Re: Mercruiser 120 starting problem

Trim sender wires messed up on the drive, exposed ?

Disconnect the wires inside the boat. Try to start, with water going to the drive post the result.

If it is the problem then follow the directions in the other thread you started.

Please sir; don't start 2 threads about the same problem, i'm a old geezer can't keep up with you young dudes.

Welcome aboard again !
