Hello! I have a 1988 sea ray seville with a mercruiser 140 I purchased last summer. I used boat without a problem last summer just to be safe I rebuilt the carb and installed new starter had no issues at all. Took boat out yesterday installed new battery fully charged boat starts right up holds idle no problem at all. I noticed when I go open throttle it hesitates around 3k rpm bogs and pops and does not pick up speed. If i bring throttle back down it will run and low speed and if i bring throttle to neutral or reverse engine will not die holds idle. I did notice that my RPM Tach is jumping around not accurate and my fuel gauge is also not reading accurate also my voltage gauge is reading under 10. When I applied full throttle it seemed like engine wanted to go faster and I did notice at this point that my gauges started to work but battery voltage was still under 11. I decided to stay out couple hours and just let engine idle and stay at low speeds had no issues at all starts up every time. I changed my spark plugs and also changed fuel filter/water separator. Checked all my lines for any leaks and also changed filter located in the carb everything looked good. Old owner upgraded ignition system to a more modern electric ignition system (I believe I might be wrong) Checked all my wires and cleaned up all my connections nothing looked loose from my view. If someone could help me out I would appreciate it!
