mercruiser 140 reinstalling pistons question

Putting together my mercruiser 140 i/o after about 7 years. Could use some help regarding reinstalling pistons. Do the cylinder numbers which are stamped on the connecting rod caps face to the right or left when installed in the engine?

If memory serves, there is a notch on the top of the piston that faces forward. Get that right and the rod will follow.

Just make sure the rod caps are matched and facing the correct way as well.
