I have bought a boat with the intentions that something minor was wrong. This is my FIRST boat ever and thought I can fix it as I do know my way around engines as I rebuilt one before and work on them often.
I have changed the gaskets on the manifold and riser just to take them off and check em out.
Well I finally had time this weekend to do a pressure check. There is a crack about 3" on port side just below the head line between cyl 3 and 4. Then during the pressure test cly 2 was leaking air. There was water in the oil so the crack is all the way through. So the $#@& guy I got this from lied as they said that it has been winterized and was working great last year till this June they tried to take it out and found water in the oil..
Now the question is, as I have never had a block crack before, can this be fix at a machine shop some how, which I hope but doubt.
Would anyone have access to the block as I have called many shops local in OKC and had a few say, "Good Luck". Like your NEVER gonna find a 140 block.. hahaha.. so well I know that this is a great board and someone will come through..
Some one mentioned before about michiganmotors on ebay. I have contacted them but since its the weekend may not be working. They do carry a wide range of engines on there website www.michiganmotors.com, but most are complete and dont have that kind of money for a complete one right now.
So does anyone out there in the WWW know where I can get access to a long block GM 140hp 181cid. I am gonna try to get the block out of the boat today so I can turn it over and look at it more in detail so if you need any #'s on it let me know as I don't know what #'s that I need to post.
If no one has access to one then I guess my only other option is to part it out. Let me know
Thanks
