Bought a new boat last year with a '78 Mercruiser 165 straight 6 in it. Ran rough so I changed the coil, cap/rotor, plugs, had the carb rebuilt you name it... It actually ended up being a timing issue. Timing was off, adjust to spec and ran fine after that.
On to the current problem...
Had the boat on the lake several times this year, no issues. Had it out 2 weeks ago, ran it around tubing, etc for several hours. Stopped for lunch and when I got back out on it it started running rough. Siphoned out the fuel thinking bad gas, checked the plugs, no luck yet. Took it out this evening and it ran fine until it gets warmed up. Runs about 1000-1500 rpm lower than it should at WOT and runs rough (kind of misses) all the way through the power band. Any suggestions? Thinking coil pack.
