I have a Mercruiser 165 with the Chevy 250ci engine. It had a blown head gasket, warped head and some cracks on the outside of the block. I have repaired all of the above and the engine seems to run good now. The oil is lightly milky due to residual left in the oil pump and lifters. Should I put an hour on it and change it again? Also how can I test the block for internal cracks now that everything is back together. I already had the machine shop check the head and it is fine and the engine deck was less than .001" warped.

Thanks in Advance.

Should have had the block magnafluxed. Not sure if there is any other way to check for internal cracking other than watching the oil to see what it does.

Yes, change the oil again after an hour or so to get the water out. Do it hot too, so the water is in suspension, unless you can get to the bottom of your pan to drain it out that way. If you can drain the pan, let it sit a few days so the water settles to the bottom, then pull the plug.

Ayuh,... Drain the cooling jacket,... Block it off,+ pressurize with Air,.. about 15psi...
You'll Hear any leaks,... Just follow the Sound....
