Hi all......Im having an issue with my mercruiser 165 4 cylinder. The engine runs extremely good until I'm idling around or put the boat in neutral, then it starts stumbling and eventually dies out. Is this a simple idle screw adjustment or something else? The boat is a 1989 ebbtide Riviera 180.

Ayuh,... It could be the idle air adjustment, or it could be something Deeper,....

Start with the screw, an 1/8th-1/4 turn 1 way or the other, 'n See....

My 165 4 cyl was doing this as well a few years ago if the idle air didn't work next check your fuel supply lines. Mine had dry rotted just out of the tank. Also replace your fuel filters, one in the carb and one on the fuel pump.

Carb rebuild stopped this on my 170.
