Mercruiser 2.5L 120hp compatible wit the 3.0 140hp???

I currently have a mid to late 1970s Mercruiser 2.5l 120hp I purchased for a project. That project is gone, and a new project has shown potential.
It is a 1979 19' Sea Ray with a 3.0 140hp Mercruiser.

My question is will the 2.5 bolt in place of the 3.0? Will the mounts and couplers be the same? What all will be involved with the swap? I have pulled and reinstalled motors a few times, but only replaced with the identical parts. Let me know, Tim

It should be a direct, bolt in replacement.....​

It should just bolt right up in there but i would look at the engine mounts and take a tape measure to it before you pull the engines. Im wondering why did u give up on mercruiser 2.5 120?

Ayuh,...... I read it that he wants to drop the 120hp in to replace a Dead 140hp.....

Btw,.... Tim, Make sure to pull the Drive 1st......

I for one, wouldn't be giving information on what will replace what with a 120 to 140 swap when you don't even know where #1 cylinder is located on one.
