Hi guys.
I'm having trouble with my 2001 Bayliner 175 capri mercury mercruiser 3.0 engine.
The boat cut out while driving and blew the fuse for the ignition circuit. I replaced the fuse and it blew it again, a mechanic checked all engine components and gave them the clear and said it is a wiring loom issue.
I then found a melted wire (which wasn't original) which connects to RUN/OFF switch below throttle, so I took it out and repaired wires surrounding and left out the switch and connected the two wires directly to each other to bypass switch.
When I changed fuse again the boat started and worked for about 30 minutes and cut out again, this time the fuse blew but the TILT/TRIM switch no longer worked, something that did previously with fuse blown.
This time when I change the fuse it blows it straight away and I can't find anymore wiring faults.
Anyone have any ideas to what could be causing these electrical shorts?
Note, the TILT/TRIM switch (Black switch in photo) was replaced by previous owner and worked when fuse first was blowing and wire replaced and now won't work when fuse is blowing.
