Hi all, I am having trouble with my 05 mercruiser TKS carburetor running too lean. I have researched all over and cannot find where the adjustment for the fuel mixture actually is. ICI see there isais a tool youhyou can purchase to adjust it but I cannot physical locate it. I have heard that it is hidden behind a pressed cover, but again I can't seem to find it. The carburetor was just rebuild and it is still running lean. Thanks for any help offered

The idle adjustment is behind the cover, but unless your only running lean at idle there is no need to adjust.

The carburetor was just rebuild and it is still running lean.

It wasn't fully rebuilt if the idle screw was not removed and cleaned

In agreement with AD, if that carburetor ever ran right, then it is calibrated properly for your motor as far as jet sizes. There are some things in your control: how clean everything is, most especially all the passages, and float height. If you are running lean up high throttle openings then you should consider redoing the rebuild. If you didn't use a kit you should do so.

I did a full rebuild (cleaned everything and replaced the idler valve) the carburetor. The most pressing issue is it stalls at 1500 rpms. When I push through that spot on the throttle it runs great. The motor also diesel s when shutting off. I was curious if their was another adjustment other then the idle screw.

go back to the carb and clean it properly. you need to chase every passage with a fine wire to make sure they are open.

part of the instructions on rebuilding your carb are removing the welsh plug and pulling the idle mixture screws to replace the packing. there are also instructions on setting the idle mixture screw.

running lean off-idle is plugged passages.

dieseling is improper timing and running lean.

Dieseling can be incorrect timing, idle rpm to high and running rich
