Mercruiser 3.0 click - no power to starter?

Banging my head here. Can't find answers in the forum or online - or the library.

1990 bayliner capri
mercruiser 3.0
serial oc662240

battery reading proper voltage
tried with booster as well (batteries are usually the culprit right...!)
new slave starter solinoid

When you turn the key you get a single click. Nothing more. Replaced slave solinoid- same result.

last year was the first time I've ever paid someone to winterize my boat (atomic 4 & this beast I always did myself before)

am I missing something obvious...?

Go to the slave and jump the 2 large lugs, If the click is more of a crunch, pull the sparkplugs are try again and check the battery cable connections on BOTH ends of the pos and neg cables
