Hey ya'll, this is my first post of many.

Bought my first boat last year, 2005 Bayliner with a Mercruiser 3.0 Liter Sterndrive Inboard Engine. We spent all last summer on the lake, my wife, 3 kids, and I. It was amazing. The boat worked great. Come winter, winterized, put it in storage, and put the keys up.

We had quite a few storms this year in central Texas, and I noticed too late that the cover was filled with water. A dime-sized hole had opened up and water was flooding into the boat. Being a first-time boat owner who didn't pay enough attention, I left the drain plug in and the water got half way up to the alternator, covered my starter, batteries, trim pump, and plenty of wiring.

I bought the maintenance manual and spent the last couple of months tearing out and replacing affected wires, replaced the starter motor and rebuilt the alternator. Bought a new battery and leads. Drained the oil, found no water, did a poor mans oil flush, and replaced the motor oil. Replaced the electrical side of the trim pump and did a full clean/inspect of the pump. Changed the trim oil. Spark plugs. Lots of wire brushing and inspections.

My current status, I have power going to all of my components with the exception of the trim pump (which I need to test, should have tested prior to installing, noob mistake). I haven't tried fully turning the ignition to start the engine, I wanted to come here first to ask if I missed anything, anything big, before trying to fire her up. I was able to hand crank the engine which seems like a good sign.

Any recommendations/things to check?

Ayuh,....... Welcome Aboard,..... Never, Ever leave the drain plug in the hull, 'n always park the boat, Nose Up,.....

The trim pump usually has it's own feed cables to the battery, or to the battery lug on the starter, 'n to the motor's block,.....

It sounds like you've covered the bases, so fire it up, 'n go Boatin',......
