Mercruiser 3.0/OMC Cobra combo

I recently acquired a 1989 Chris Craft Cavalier 17 that has a OMC Cobra outdrive installed. The original motor is AWOL but the previous owner had a Mercruiser 3.0 sitting in the boat. Has anybody hooked this motor to an OMC outdrive? I assume that the OMC 3.0 was the same engine but what different parts would be required to have? Any help in steering me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated it.

The long block is the same. The bellhouseing,coupler,manifold,and maybe the motor mount will not work.

I have done the swap a few times the other way from omc to merchant it pretty simple.


Have read there is a way to tie the exhaust together but I think it turns into a cobbled mess.
