What Im basically dealing with here is a set of points that isnt consistent with its ability to effectively open and close the circuit. Ive got a known good points and condenser, and a new points and condenser, both do the same thing. ill set the gap, maybe clean up the points with emery cloth, itll throw spark for a while, maybe 2 mins, and then intermittant spark. As far as the dwell goes, im kinda without the proper tools, to perform that check. It can be done with a multimeter but I dont remember how... The oddest thing about this is, it was running flawlessly for 2 days, then it starts doing this after I change the fuel filters. Which I can not see how that affected the points. What should I do? Is there a HEI drop in for these distributors??? I would dance a happy jig for all to see if there was.... Thanks.

FWIW i installed the petronix unit and an accel super coil that i had laying around, this made an incredible difference in power delivery, idle quality and fuel consumption. Seems to have lessened the vibration at idle also.
