Looking for help. Have a 2005 SeaRay BR with a 3.0 with starting problem. While I am cranking it will not start, but will catch sometimes as soon as I stop cranking. Checked 12v to coil (big purple wire) and has power while key is on but not while cranking, so added jumper from here to battery and starts like it should. Guess that tell me coil and dist is good, just need someone to tell me what else it would be before I just start buying new parts.
TIA

Its could be the key switch. Check for 12V at the key switch purple wire with key ON. If its there and not at the coil then check the kill switch

Thanks for the reply. I have 12v at the key with key turned on, and 12v at the coil. It's when I turn the key to crank that I lose power to the coil. Could that still be the kill switch? TIA.

EDIT maybe, what is the motor serial number?

Keep the voltmeter on the purple wire at the key switch purple wire. Crank the motor to see if you loose 12V. If you do its the key switch

Just tried that. 12v to purple in on position but no voltage when cranking!
