MerCruiser 3.0 to Omc 4.3 swop

I have a 20 ft sea pro Duel Console with a Mercruiser 3.0 the engine has been given me problems idling so I bought a new carburetor that did not fix the problem then I noticed oil around the top of engine from blow by so I did a leak down test and I'm losing 40 psi give are take on every cylinder and its going to the crankcase ( that would explain the blow by) also notice that the oil was milky so I changed it and ran it down the river 1 hour total and the oil was milky again so now I know an overhaul / engine is needed... Meanwhile I have a Remained OMC 4.3 with lower everything still on another boat that I was going to replace the floor in but haven't got around to it ... should I use the omc equipment I have or rebuild / replace the Mercruiser engine ?

You don't want to swap a Mercruiser for a Cobra. You'll hate yourself.

Find another 2.5L or 3.0L and keep going. 4.3L will take different everything pretty much. Transom plate stays the same, and you can use the leg from a 3.7L boat if yours is an Alpha Gen 1 or M/R but the majority of everything including the mounts will be different

I have a Cobra on 1 of my other boats Its ok but not a Mercruiser .. I am aware of the that I would have to take everything from 1 boat and put in the other boat along with glassing in new mount pads.. I just wanted to see what the thoughts where and would I pick up any speed with the 4.3 over the 3.0

My leg is an alpha 1 gen 2

I would sell the OMC stuff and simply get another 1991 or newer 3.0 to get your boat back on the water. then in a year or two, get the boat you want.

Well back in November I bought a 1990 Wellcraft fish20 with A 200hp Mercury I've had the boat out twice and now its for sell lol it takes about 20 gallons of fuel to do what I normally do with about 11 gallons in the sea pro with the 3.0 ...
