 it appears i have gained a steam powered inboard. it starts and runs 100%, but emits a phut phut noise from the front r/h side of the engine around the area of the head / exhaust manifold region. when throttle applied power is lost and on shut down a small waft a blueish smoke is blown out. a mechanic suggested a missing head bolt, ? wheres it gone? or head gasket. oil is clean as are plugs and it doesnt seem to get overly hot. any ideas to ease my worries and wallet would be grateful as its going to be sometime before its hauled to the dreaded ($$$) dealers. many thanks all (in hope of a clue) and keep up the good work.

Strange that an engine can run 100% and lose power on throttling up.But i would look at the intake/exhaust gasket area and expect the attaching bolts to be loose,or the manifold to be warped.i would also look at the carb base gasket as well as the exhaust bellows.i could do this, but you'd have to bring the boat to me.Then i could retire.

dreaded ($$$) dealer

DHP
