Mercruiser 3.0LX 135hp - oil filter

What is the equiverlent oil filter for a 1997 Mercruiser 3.0LX 135hp?<br /><br />The Quicksilver part number is:35-802885Q<br /><br />I would like to replace with non-genuine filter - Fram / K&N etc but I don't know what model filter to buy (as in Z9 / Z89 etc)<br /><br />Can anyone help?

I replaced my Quicksilver filter with a Fram filter once. Then I read on this and the BoaterEd forum all the passionate discussions about oil and filters. In the end, I decided to go back to Quicksilver filters (made by Champion). Many people claim other filters are better (Purolator, Mobil 1), but for now, I am sticking with Mercury recommendations on my lubrication products. I've also gone to the synthetic High Performance Gear Lube+ for the stern drive. I've paid enough mechanics bills to get any satisfaction from saving 3 bucks on an oil filter.<br /><br />Steve
