Hello all, just looking for some quick confirmation that this will work.

After installing new bellows and water line on my alpha one gen 2, I removed and blew through the hose at the base of the thermostat housing to ensure nothing was kinked. It's the tube that runs from the base of the thermostat back to to the transom. As I was reattaching the hose I noticed the end is split. There isn't enough good hose remaining to simply cut the hose and reattach. A quick search for the actual mercruiser part has been unsuccessful so I turn to the wise community here.

Water & Discharge Hose | MSCDirect.com

Will this tubing suffice? There are no molded sections on the hose it will replace. Is this suitable?

Thanks in advance!

I'd just use standard automotive heater hose, couple bucks a foot.

Well actually, that's what I'm using.

Fun Times,

I saw that diagram as well, but my motor is not equipped with an oil cooler. The tube runs straight along the top of the engine from the base of the thermostat right back to the transom water tube fitting.

fishrdan's heater hose recommendation is probably the route I will take.

Thank you both for the quick replies!

Edit: Looked at that diagram again and it is part 17 I need. Thanks for the post!!!!

fwiw.
i don't have a genII drive, i have a mc-1 drive. that said. i went with the mercruiser hose when i replaced mine (same hose as your talking about, the one that runs from the tstat housing to the gimble housing). the mercruiser hose for mine is much beefier than any heater hose i've ever seen (read as more difficult to work with). on the mc-1 drive, it's also the same duty hose that ya use for the outside from the gimble housing to the bell housing.
use what ya want. i'm just giving ya food for thought.
maybe go down to your merc dealer and have a look at the hose the oem uses prior to making a decision as to which to go with. my local dealer had this hose on hand in his stock.

After getting the correct part number I went ahead and ordered the Merc OEM hose. Thanks for confirming I made the right decision.
