~~I have a few question if anyone can help ? I have a 1986 mercruiser 3.7 170 closed coolant system. I bought the after market 3 wire conversion kit. I broke to of the tabs that are water pump/timing cover. I got a new one to put on. Do i need to buy the gasket for the two parts or can i use rtv ? other question is i had to move the pulley and the stator coil to get to the last bolt. Can i brake the magnets of the pulley or leave them on? also to i have to put the stator back it ? Now to remove this pulley i had to get a puller for it. How do i go about putting back on ? it says not to hit with objects.

I just converted my 3.7 over to a alternator, assuming that’s what you are doing. I am not all that knowledgeable about motors but here’s what I did. I let the stator on and just cut the wires and made sure they would not spark. Not sure what you mean broke two of the tabs that are water pump/timing cover. I think you mean water pump bolts? If so most kits come with bolts and with mine I never took off the cover so no new seal was needed. Not sure if I am answering all your questions sorry. I suspect someone will drop by shorty and provide more assistance.
