I have a '87 mercruiser 165/3.7 that I finally got running great. But now I have oil and a lot of smoke coming from the valve cover port that is connected to the spark arrestor. Any suggestions of what is the cause and a simple cure?

The smoke is called blow-by caused by worn rings. The oil mist may be associated with the blow-by pressure or the crankcase is over-filled

I will check my oil level. The smoke i'm not too worried about , it's the oil that is blowing over the motor that makes me worry.
