Mercruiser 350 Mag sudden shutdown.

I have a 2002 Stingray 230LX with a Mercruiser MPI 350 Mag. The problem I have experienced is the engine will suddenly shut off. When I restart the boat, it starts with no problem. It seems that this happens when the boat is at rest for a while in the water, then the boat gets going a little then suddenly shuts off. It restarts without a problem. Turning the blower on and opening the engine compartment seem to help this. Any clues why this is happening?

If it runs beter with the engine hatch open, check your engine rm air intakes. I would take a look at the flame arrestor to see if it is loaded with dirt. Check for loose wires around distributor.<br /> Good Luck<br /> Paul

run boat with blower on the whole time next run! does it happen again? sounds like a vapor lock. it is getting more common with smaller engine compartments these days. you must look at all fresh air hoses and make sure they are attached i have been seeing a lot of them off at the duck on the boat just laying in the bilge area. where is this boat running? what altatude?
