Hi all, I am looking for some help on project of mine. I have a 383 Stroker with a carburetor.. When the engine is cold it starts right up and will run fine. I can see the fuel being pumped into the carb when I give it a few pumps before starting. The issue happens when the boat is in gear running idle speed and engine is at operation temperature it stalls out and will not start back up. I checked the fuel plump side with a test light and it only gets power when the engine is cranking. And when trying to pump gas into the carb when engine is hot I cannot see fuel being pumped. Any ideas to what it might be? Thank You

check your oil pressure switch... pull the connector off of it and jump it with a paper clip and see if you get power (ignition on) to your fuel pump... if you have power try starting it... if it starts make SURE that you have oil pressure... if you do then its a bad pressure switch

you need to check to see if you have fuel squirting when its warm
you need to check for spark

what is your choke doing when its warm?

could be vapor lock
could be flakey ignition
could be mis-adjusted choke

if you do not have gas in the carb when warm?

your fuel pump is supposed to only run when cranking, or when the oil pressure switch says you have oil pressure (safety switch)

Is this a new ( or second ) boat for you? I thought you had the Sea Ray Sundancer with the 7.4 engine :noidea:

Either the oil pressure switch is no working as bman mentioned or it is not wired correctly. When the motor is cranking power is supplied to the fuel pump, this is long enough to fill the carb bowl. When key is released and oil pressure comes up, power should be coming from the purple wire thru the oil pressure switch to the pump

I am helping out my friend who just purchased his first boat and knows nothing about engines or boats.
