Took the boat out on the water for the first time yesterday. Broke down as we entered the channel with a real hot rubber smell.

Took a look at the engine and belt fell off from a broken polley. I have pictures if anyone could help me with part numbers and some tips on installing pulley and putting belt back on.

Did some more research. Found its they power steering pulley. Part number #861578. Anyone please correct me if I'm wrong. Anyone have advice on installation and returning belt? Should I purchase a new belt?

you will need the tool for installation.most auto shops will rent one that serial number comes back as a 4.3 GEN II 2 barrel, 1996
the # for the pully is 73773A1 ,Sierra 18-8227 You should check for melted exaust shutters and melted exaust hose connectors too

I'd check a little farther before just replacing the pulley and belt. A possible scenario is that the 'hot rubber smell' happened because the pump bearing seized and the belt started slipping (burning from friction). Eventually, the belt and pulley broke.
